Microwave Repair in San Diego County
Built-in, over-the-range, microwave drawer and speed-oven units. Repair usually makes sense on built-ins — we'll tell you honestly when it doesn't.

Countertop microwaves are usually cheaper to replace than to repair, and we'll say so rather than sell you a service call. Built-in units are a different story: a trim-kit microwave, a Sharp or Bosch microwave drawer, or a Wolf or Miele speed oven costs well over a thousand dollars to replace and is very much worth repairing.
What we repair
- Runs but doesn't heat — magnetron, high-voltage diode, capacitor or transformer.
- Sparking or arcing inside — burned waveguide cover, damaged cavity paint, or metal contact. Stop using it.
- Turntable not rotating — drive motor or coupler.
- Buttons dead or panel unresponsive — touch panel or control board.
- Door won't latch, or unit runs with the door open — interlock switches. This is a safety fault; get it fixed immediately.
- Microwave drawer won't open or close — drawer motor, belt or control.
- Over-the-range vent fan not running or noisy — fan motor, damper or control.
- Speed oven convection or grill not working — element, fan motor or relay board.
Do not open a microwave yourself. The high-voltage capacitor holds a lethal charge long after the unit is unplugged. This is one appliance where DIY is genuinely dangerous.
Built-in and speed ovens
Wolf, Miele, Thermador, Bosch, Gaggenau and Jenn-Air speed ovens combine microwave and convection heating in one cavity, with more control electronics than a standard microwave. They're worth repairing and parts are generally available. We also handle over-the-range combination units where the vent hood and microwave share a control.

Questions
Microwave Repair — questions we get asked
Is it worth repairing a microwave?
Built-in, drawer and speed-oven models: almost always yes, because replacement runs $1,200 to $4,000+ and often requires cabinet modification. Countertop models under about $250: almost never — we'll tell you that on the phone rather than charging you for a visit.
My microwave runs but doesn't heat food. What's failed?
Usually the magnetron or the high-voltage diode. Both are inexpensive parts with a modest labor charge on a built-in unit, so it's typically a worthwhile repair.
The microwave sparks when I run it. Can I keep using it?
No. Stop immediately. Arcing is usually a burned waveguide cover or damaged cavity coating, and continuing to run it will destroy the magnetron and can start a fire.
